The Edelbrock cylinder head is one of the most popular aluminum cylinder head on the market. It is available for the magnum or LA engine configuration. This head has the potential to support 450 horsepower.
Small Block Mopar Edelbrock Heads - Level 1 Ported
Our Level 1 ported Edelbrock heads are a great value for your dollar. You receive all the features that Edelbrock includes, plus our Level 1 port work. The porting consists of a competition valve job on both intake and exhaust. The intake port receives a reshaped short turn, chamber deshroud, opening of the pushrod pinch (about an inch into the port), head bolt buldge minimized, a back cut on the intake valve and a blending of valve job into the port. The exhaust receives a blending from the valve job into the port. We also give the guides a resize as the guide clearance can be a little tight.
We also have a couple of options for the heads. We find the valve springs to be a little light for some performance cams. We have a spring upgrade available which will give you 130# seat pressure and 325# at .580" lift. You can also opt for an inconel exhaust valve for forced induction applications. This is for boost levels that will exceed 15 lbs of boost. The heads can also be decked to boost the compression ratio.

Our Level 2 ported Edelbrock are a full cnc ported head. The intake port, exhaust port and and the combustion chamber all receive cnc porting. This is done to enlarge and give us the basic shape of the port and chamber. After the cnc port work is performed there is still hand blending that is performed on both the intake and exhaust ports.
We also have a couple of options for these heads. We find the valve springs to be a little light for some performance cams. The Edelbrock Maxport head is a serious street strip cylinder head. It features some real steep flow numbers and due to the head starting out as a regular 61779 Edelbrock head all factory magnum accessories such as the front brackets, factory valve covers, intake, and headers fit. This head does require a special set of roller rockers that have the correct intake pushrod offset to work. By moving the pushrod over it gives us a nice straight entry into the intake port without a pushrod pinch. The head flows over 310 cfm on the intake at .650" lift and 214 cfm on the exhaust at .650" lift.
We use high performance ferrea 2.08" stainless intake valves and 1.60" stainless exhaust valves. The heads come with a comp cams springs, locks and retainers. We also have some options for titanium retainers to reduce valve train weight.
Also we recommend if an M1 4bbl is used that you look into our porting service or purchase one of our Indy 360-m intakes that we convert for efi.
